The Junior Hi-Power program begins TBD with classes on the 200-yard range nearly every Monday thru the end of June. We will have a class schedule to hand out at our first session. Our classes will start at 5:30 PM and run until approximately 8:00 PM, depending upon the light conditions. The class is FREE of charge.
Classes are taught
If you have a junior (age 14 and up) who wants to learn how to properly shoot a high powered rifle, or wants to learn rifle shooting procedures and safety, or who just wants to shoot, this is the program for him or her. The only two requirements are that the junior:
- Be mature enough to understand and obey range safety rules and procedures.
- Be strong enough to safely hold and shoot a .223 and/or 30.06 caliber hi-power rifle (about 7-9 lbs)
- Adults can also attend the classes provided there is room on the range that is not occupied by a junior shooter
COSC provides the instruction, and provides rifles and ammunition for the junior hi-power program. There is no cost to the juniors or their parents. Adults are welcome to participate, but they must provide their own rifles and ammunition. Participants should bring their own ear and eye protection.
Ammo and most equipment will be provided for the juniors. Adults that wish to learn about the sport of Highpower Rifle can attend the sessions, but priority will be giving to the junior shooters.
