COSC offers Hunter Education classes for youth and adults. Our next scheduled two-day session is:

DNR Hunter Education Class – Saturday & Sunday April 4 & 5, 2020
Saturday 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM and Sunday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Students bring lunch & drinks both days.

Cost:  A donation of $10 accepted, but not required.

Class size limited to 40 students (school-aged students and adults are welcome to take this class) and registration is required. ALL STUDENTS are required to turn in signed/completed Student/Parent-Guardian Agreement form (download PDF) at time of sign in. Registration deadline is April 1, 2020

Students 10 and under are required to be accompanied by parent/guardian during class. Attendance both days required for Certificate.

No Live Ammunition Allowed in Class.

COSC Students for Sat/Sun: bring sack lunch, snack and drinks. Both days required to receive DNR Certificate.

On-Line Students Sunday: Bring On-line Certificate of Completion, sack lunch, snacks and drinks.


Saturday – Sign In: 8:30 – 9:30  Class: 9:30  Lunch 12:00 Noon  Class 1:00 – 4:00

Sunday –  Sign in by 9:00 AM for exam review. At 10:00 AM all students must take MI-DNR exam to attend Field Day from 1 – 4 PM with live fire exercise to receive MI-DNR Safety Certificate

Sunday at Field Day – Dress for that day’s weather! Wear boots, no open toe shoes on Shooting Range. Wear high necked closed collar shirt/blouse. Note: Students may bring their own Eye & Ear protection.

DNR study materials, Certificate, water, pencils and teaching aids provided by COSC DNR Instructors.

Field Day –  Firearms & Ammunition, Eye and Hearing Protection, Archery Equipment is provided by Volunteer DNR Certified Instructors, Chief Okemos Sportsman’s Club & NRA Range Safety Officers
